The application process for the GreenTec Awards 2015 has begun. Technological innovations which contribute to environmental protection and demonstrate that sustainability and profitability can go hand-in-hand are sought. In total, the following categories exist in the competition 2015: Automobility, Construction & Living, Energy, Galileo Wissenspreis (ProSieben), Communication, Lifestyle, Aviation, Production, Recycling & Resources, Travel, Start-up, Urbanization and Water & Sewage. On principle anyone can apply: whether start-up or global player, private individual or scientist, team or lone fighter. Applications from abroad are explicitly invited. A jury of 60 experts, consisting of high-profile representatives from the world of economics and politics, science and media evaluate the applications. In addition, a public online voting determines one of three nominations. The winner will be chosen at the jury meeting at the end of February 2015. The outcome will be kept a secret until the glamorous award ceremony on May 29, 2014. An absolute novelty: The whole competition process is certified by TÜV Nord.
Dr. Carla Recker, Project Manager and in charge of material chemistry in the tire division of Continental, on winning the GreenTec Award 2014 in the category Automobility: “Winning the GreenTec Award with our project RUBIN, turning dandelion into rubber for tire production, fills us with pride! The positive environmental effects regarding the CO2 balance and biodiversity protection not only convinced the jury, they are also a constant motivation and driver for this longstanding and challenging endeavor.”
